Luis Fuentes, a native of Peru, was born in 1969 into a family deeply rooted in the world of art. Although his artistic journey initially led him to study architecture and fine arts at Escuela de Bellas Artes after completing high school, it didn’t take long for him to discover that his true passion lay in the world of painting. Luis’s dedication and unwavering commitment to honing his skills as a fine artist set him on a transformative path. As he delved further into the world of art, Luis Fuentes established an impressive international presence. He actively participated in art fairs, engaged in art residencies, and showcased his works in numerous solo exhibitions. It was during his formative years as a student that he made a remarkable breakthrough. In 1990, Luis secured first prize in the Peruvian National Watercolor Competition, a prestigious recognition that not only solidified his standing within the art community but also opened doors for him to exhibit his creations in galleries throughout his homeland. Today, Luis Fuentes enjoys a global following and is proudly represented by numerous prestigious galleries worldwide. His art is an alluring invitation to a serene world where the sea takes center stage. With a skillful brush and an innate ability to transport the viewer, he beckons us through open windows into the captivating realms of sand, rocks, and water, offering an idyllic and tranquil escape. A defining characteristic of Luis’s artwork is the compelling interplay between light and shadow. Luis Fuentes
Luis Fuentes was born in Arequipa, Peru, in 1969 to a family of artists. Fuentes entered university to pursue a degree in architecture and fine arts but came to realize painting was his true vocation so he dedicated his efforts to complete his fine art training at Carlos Baca Flor School. In 1991, Fuentes received much recognition for his artistic work, including First Prize in the prestigious Peruvian National Watercolor Competition in 1990. He was awarded a Diploma of Recognition in 1991 by the Peruvian National Cultural Institute for his contributions to the development of Peruvian art. Fuentes’s portfolio includes both watercolor and oils, in which he works with equal proficiency. His works of art are found in Art Galleries and private collections in the United States, Spain, Mexico, Guatemala, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru. One of the most important elements of Luis’s artwork is the contrast between light and shadow. Each painting features rich shadows and bright highlights, to give his work a glowing illusion of reality.
