About the Item

The other shore is a unique painting by contemporary artist Lumi Mizutani. The painting is made with pigments, India ink on Japanese cardboard, dimensions are 12.1 × 13.6 cm (4.8 × 5.4 in). Dimensions of the framed artwork are 17.2 cm x 18.7 cm (6.7 × 7.3 in). The artwork is signed, sold framed and comes with a certificate of authenticity. In this series of figurative paintings, Lumi Mizutani pays homage to Japan and its wonderful landscapes especially those at Higashiyama-ku in Kyoto and Ueno in Tokyo. The artist places a lot of emphasis on nature and trees in her works of art. This series is characterized by the use of India ink and colour pigments together with gold, copper and silver leaf. Lumi Mizutani works on the alchemy between different elements she uses: paper, ink and water. Through the magic play of the materials, Lumi invites the viewer to enter the world of her artworks full of emotion. The artist juggles with the codes by using traditional techniques, on the one hand, and permanently reinventing with her own techniques, on the other.

"Mountain Path" Japanese landscape painting mineral pigments on silk nature
By Maki Kuchida
Located in Kowloon, Hong Kong
Mountain Path is a 2020 landscape work by Maki Kuchida. This is a much sought-after landscape work by Maki, demonstrating her delicate painting skills with so much details in one work - the nature environment, trees with various forms and shapes, flowers, the river and the colorful coyotes as if all inside a mirage of the mountain. The mountain path leads you into a stage where the sky and the earth merge into one universe, the realm of the soul. Maki combines the Japanese landscape painting technique with the Chinese one thus her landscape work is unique in its own way. Coyotes are mascots that appear very often in Maki's landscape paintings. The painted size of the work is approx. 54 x 38cm, while the framed size is approx. 74x58cm. It is framed with archival grade mount. There will be a certificate of authenticity issued with your acquisition. Maki's paintings may seem deceptively simple at first but indeed the colors and texture are achieved through a labor-intensive and time-consuming process as painting on silk for one color requires at least 8 layers of pigments. Maki paints using mineral pigments on...
