The painting features a street scene of a French City , possibly Paris, where the artist spent time worked during the 60's. The artwork is asymmetrical providing balance and focal point in the center. the dark colors reflecting the street scene during night time and maintain focus on the building and architectural details . The painting is signed in the bottom right by the artist Mary Botto.
About the artist :
Mary Botto (American 1913 - 2002) was a well-regarded American painter recognised for her city scapes. She adopted an impasto technique using palette knife and brush. Her artwork stands out through its texture and vibrant hues. Known for her street scapes, Mary exhibited widely, mainly in the United States. In the early 1960's she travelled to Europe and worked as an artist in France. Her work is highly sought after.
