About the Item
Masri Hayssam (Lebanese, Italian, born 1965)
"My Home, Summer" 2006
Oil paint on canvas, stretcher bars
The artist signed the bottom right corner and the back of the painting.
In “My Home, Summer,” Masri distills a season into gesture and color. Broad passages of warm ochre and sunlit gold roll across the surface, interrupted by thicker, assertive strokes that suggest terrain shaped by heat, wind, and memory. The elevated horizon and open sky create a sense of space and stillness, while the layered paint retains the physicality and immediacy of the artist’s hand.
Painted during a period when Masri was living in Italy, this work reflects his deep engagement with the Mediterranean landscape and the rhythms of daily life he experienced there. Rather than describing a specific place, Masri paints from lived observation, translating the feeling of summer ground, dry grasses, and expansive light into a painterly language that sits between abstraction and landscape. The result is a work that feels personal and grounded, a quiet reflection on place, belonging, and the familiarity of land seen again and again.
About the Artist:
Masri is a passionate Italian, US-based artist whose work has been exhibited in the USA, the UK, Germany, Lebanon, Italy, and Norway. His work is varied and known especially in Europe and in Major collections - Ellen DeGeneres, Ringo Starr, Al Gore, and many more. Harnessing an insatiable desire for artistic discovery, innovation, and perfection, he dives into experimentation with openness and enthusiasm. As a result, his works are bright, expansive, and bold. Masri has developed a style that captures the Middle Eastern mood with a Lucien Freud brush touch. This style is completed with palette work, as the artist often goes into a trance-like state when creating these powerful expressions of the human experience.
Artist statement:
"I live four seasons every day - it is a humongous world of perceptions, conceptions, and achievements; a world of renewable psychological input and output fraught with flowing emotions, endurance, and pain. "
The painting comes with a certificate of authenticity and a letter of appraisal.

Hayssam's art reflects his multicultural background, blending Middle Eastern and European influences with abstract and figurative elements. His work often explores the relationship between the natural and the artificial, the tangible and the intangible, and the visible and the invisible. Masri Hayssam's artistic journey is a testament to his commitment to self-expression and exploration. He is a master of paintings of the raw human condition.

"To, Livorno" 2002
Oil paint on canvas, stretcher bars

“To, Livorno” is a richly textured landscape by Masri that captures the sensation of moving through the Italian coast rather than describing it literally. Sweeping passages of green, ochre, and deep blue are built with confident, physical brushwork, creating a sense of terrain, wind, and shifting light that feels both immediate and memory-driven. The composition suggests hills and coastal pathways dissolving into the atmosphere, allowing color and gesture to carry the emotional weight of place. Masri has long drawn inspiration from Italy, particularly the Tuscan and coastal regions, where he returns repeatedly to paint and absorb the rhythm of the landscape. In this work, that relationship is felt through the balance of structure and spontaneity, where observation gives way to intuition. Painted in oil, To, Livorno reflects Masri’s mature approach to landscape painting, one rooted in experience, movement, and a deep affection for the Italian countryside.

"Florence, Sunrise" 2006
Oil paint on canvas, stretcher bars
Signed by the artist in the bottom left corner of the painting.
Florence, Sunrise is a richly textured oil painting that captures the quiet intensity of early morning light settling over the Tuscan landscape. Broad, expressive brushstrokes and layered oil paint convey movement and atmosphere rather than strict detail, allowing color and texture to carry the emotional weight of the scene. Warm yellows and reds glow against deep greens, suggesting the land awakening as the sun rises over Florence.
Masri has long maintained a deep personal and artistic relationship with Italy, returning repeatedly to its landscapes for inspiration. His approach blends post-impressionist sensitivity to light with expressionist energy, prioritizing feeling, rhythm, and painterly surface over photographic realism. This work reflects that balance, where the landscape becomes both a real place and an emotional memory shaped by time, light, and experience.
