"Paesaggio Con Alberi" 2002
Oil paint on wood panel
Signed by the artist on the bottom right corner and on the back of the painting.
“Paesaggio Con Alberi” is a powerful landscape created during a mature phase of the artist’s practice. Rather than offering a literal depiction of nature, the work is constructed through dense planes of color and assertive, palette-knife brushwork that give the surface a sculptural presence.
Deep greens, olive tones, and saturated yellows dominate the composition, layered in thick, directional strokes that suggest foliage, rolling land, and shifting light. The horizon is implied rather than defined, allowing the viewer to experience the landscape as a physical and emotional terrain rather than a fixed viewpoint. Masri’s handling of oil paint is unapologetically tactile, with ridges and strata of pigment that record each movement of the hand.
This painting reflects Masri’s long-standing interest in landscape as a lived experience. Having spent several formative years in Italy, he absorbed the rhythm of rural environments and the changing qualities of Mediterranean light, translating them into a language that balances abstraction with memory. In "Paesaggio Con Alberi," trees are not described botanically but felt through mass, weight, and color.
About the Artist:
Masri is a passionate Italian, US-based artist whose work has been exhibited in the USA, the UK, Germany, Lebanon, Italy, and Norway. His work is varied and known especially in Europe and in Major collections - Ellen DeGeneres, Ringo Starr, Al Gore, and many more. Harnessing an insatiable desire for artistic discovery, innovation, and perfection, he dives into experimentation with openness and enthusiasm. As a result, his works are bright, expansive, and bold. Masri has developed a style that captures the Middle Eastern mood with a Lucien Freud brush touch. This style is completed with palette work, as the artist often goes into a trance-like state when creating these powerful expressions of the human experience.
Artist statement:
"I live four seasons every day - it is a humongous world of perceptions, conceptions, and achievements; a world of renewable psychological input and output fraught with flowing emotions, endurance, and pain. "
The painting comes with a certificate of authenticity and a letter of appraisal.

Florence, Sunrise is a richly textured oil painting that captures the quiet intensity of early morning light settling over the Tuscan landscape. Broad, expressive brushstrokes and layered oil paint convey movement and atmosphere rather than strict detail, allowing color and texture to carry the emotional weight of the scene. Warm yellows and reds glow against deep greens, suggesting the land awakening as the sun rises over Florence.
Masri has long maintained a deep personal and artistic relationship with Italy, returning repeatedly to its landscapes for inspiration. His approach blends post-impressionist sensitivity to light with expressionist energy, prioritizing feeling, rhythm, and painterly surface over photographic realism. This work reflects that balance, where the landscape becomes both a real place and an emotional memory shaped by time, light, and experience.

"Veduta Verso Sera" 1998

“Veduta Verso Sera” is a richly textured landscape, completed in 1998 during a period when the artist was deeply invested in translating lived experience into painterly structure. The title, which evokes an evening view, aligns with the work’s tonal depth and shifting sense of light rather than a fixed geographic location. The composition unfolds through vigorous, layered brushwork, with sweeping passages of green and deep blue suggesting rolling terrain as daylight recedes. Masri’s palette is punctuated by sharp accents of yellow and red, which animate the surface and introduce moments of tension within the otherwise expansive landscape. These gestures pull the viewer forward, creating a sense of movement and immediacy, as though the scene is still unfolding.

"To, Livorno" 2002

“To, Livorno” is a richly textured landscape by Masri that captures the sensation of moving through the Italian coast rather than describing it literally. Sweeping passages of green, ochre, and deep blue are built with confident, physical brushwork, creating a sense of terrain, wind, and shifting light that feels both immediate and memory-driven. The composition suggests hills and coastal pathways dissolving into the atmosphere, allowing color and gesture to carry the emotional weight of place. Masri has long drawn inspiration from Italy, particularly the Tuscan and coastal regions, where he returns repeatedly to paint and absorb the rhythm of the landscape. In this work, that relationship is felt through the balance of structure and spontaneity, where observation gives way to intuition. Painted in oil, To, Livorno reflects Masri’s mature approach to landscape painting, one rooted in experience, movement, and a deep affection for the Italian countryside.

Hush, Tapestry-Like Landscape Painting, Semi-Abstract Mixed Media Artwork
Located in Deddington, GB
“Hush” is part of my Tapestry series of semi abstract paintings that explore the simplification of shape, space, colour and texture in places I have visited. Some of these are specific to landscapes around my studio in Surrey, the South Downs and Devon but mostly they are a visual amalgamation of experiences, like a patchwork of memories and feelings from one or many places. Tapestry-like landscapes with bold mono-tone blocks which reflect the shadowy-shape of evergreen trees against more open hills and meadows. I see more when I’m not focused on the detail, painting intuitively with a mix of acrylics, inks, chalk and oil pastels to capture an emotive response to a place rather than the reality of a specific landscape. Brush strokes and marks are layered and carved with fluid lines that create imagined dream-like patterns. “Hush” is painted on a wood panel with muted shades of slate, moss, pebble and shell, contrasted with a bold graphic swathe of charcoal.
