"By the River, Winter Day," a stunning 55" x 78" oil on canvas by Masri, captures the quiet power of nature in its rawest form. In this masterful landscape, the artist's trademark technique—painting directly with his hands—imbues the work with an organic energy that feels both intimate and vast. The brushwork is deliberate yet fluid, suggesting movement within the stillness of a winter day.
The scene unfolds with muted earthy green, ochre, and brown tones, which blend seamlessly into the soft blues and grays of the river and sky. There is a quiet grandeur in the sweeping strokes that define the landscape, as the distant hills and sparse trees emerge from the haze of winter. The contrast between the warm, earthy foreground and the cooler, distant horizon evokes a sense of both isolation and harmony, capturing the timeless tranquility of nature during the colder months.
Masri's emotional engagement with the canvas brings a palpable presence to this piece. The hands-on technique not only heightens the emotional impact but also speaks to the artist's deep connection to the natural world. This compelling work offers more than a visual experience; it draws the viewer into a meditative space where nature and art merge seamlessly.
About the Artist:
Masri is a passionate Italian, US-based artist whose work has been exhibited in the USA, the UK, Germany, Lebanon, Italy, and Norway. His work is varied and known especially in Europe and in Major collections - Ellen Degeneres, Ringo Starr, Al Gore, and many more.
Harnessing an insatiable desire for artistic discovery, innovation, and perfection, he dives into experimentation with openness and enthusiasm. As a result, his works are bright, expansive, and bold. Masri has developed a style that captures the Middle Eastern mood with a Lucien Freud brush touch. This style is completed with palette work, as the artist often goes into a trance-like state when creating these powerful expressions of the human experience.
Artist statement:
"I live four seasons every day - it is a humongous world of perceptions, conceptions, and achievements; a world of renewable psychological input and output fraught with flowing emotions, endurance, and pain. "
The painting comes with a certificate of authenticity and a letter of appraisal.

Hayssam's art reflects his multicultural background, blending Middle Eastern and European influences with abstract and figurative elements. His work often explores the relationship between the natural and the artificial, the tangible and the intangible, and the visible and the invisible. Masri Hayssam's artistic journey is a testament to his commitment to self-expression and exploration. He is a master of paintings of the raw human condition.
