About the Item

Scorched shows and intensely heated landscape with the sun hovering overhead. Plant life struggles to stay alive in this hot climate and the plants here are shown climbing towards the sun. Exploring themes of environmental change and global warming, the title Scorched is a direct reference to a climate that has become overheated and arid. Void of human presence and interaction, the landscape here is stripped down to its bare elements. Attached fabrics and studio "debris" create rich visual textures and touch on themes of recycling and zero waste. Matt Higgins b. 1987 is an artist and art professor who lives and works in Philadelphia, Pa. He maintains a regular studio practice in the Fishtown neighborhood focusing primarily on abstract styles of painting but sometimes dabbling in text based paintings, landscapes or other genres of painting. His work is included in numerous private collections and has been included in wide range of interior design projects including residential properties, corporations and hotels.

"Florence, Sunrise" - Original Golden Sunrise Landscape with Trees and Hills
By Masri Hayssam
Located in Carmel, CA
Masri Hayssam (Lebanese, born 1965) "Florence, Sunrise" 2006 Oil paint on canvas, stretcher bars Signed by the artist in the bottom left corner of the painting. Florence, Sunrise is a richly textured oil painting that captures the quiet intensity of early morning light settling over the Tuscan landscape. Broad, expressive brushstrokes and layered oil paint convey movement and atmosphere rather than strict detail, allowing color and texture to carry the emotional weight of the scene. Warm yellows and reds glow against deep greens, suggesting the land awakening as the sun rises over Florence. Masri has long maintained a deep personal and artistic relationship with Italy, returning repeatedly to its landscapes for inspiration. His approach blends post-impressionist sensitivity to light with expressionist energy, prioritizing feeling, rhythm, and painterly surface over photographic realism. This work reflects that balance, where the landscape becomes both a real place and an emotional memory shaped by time, light, and experience. About the Artist: Masri is a passionate Italian, US-based artist whose work has been exhibited in the USA, the UK, Germany, Lebanon, Italy, and Norway. His work is varied and known especially in Europe and in Major collections - Ellen DeGeneres, Ringo Starr, Al Gore, and many more. Harnessing an insatiable desire for artistic discovery, innovation, and perfection, he dives into experimentation with openness and enthusiasm. As a result, his works are bright, expansive, and bold. Masri has developed a style that captures the Middle Eastern mood with a Lucien Freud...
