Series: The Sign of Iris – Giglio is a painting series dedicated to Florence and its visual legacy. The iris — the historical emblem of the city — appears not as a botanical subject, but as a cultural sign shaped by memory, architecture, and time.
Each work presents a different state of the same symbol — light, silence, density, and restraint. The flowers are shown not as individual objects, but as manifestations of one collective image: the irises of Florence.
Working with flattened space, clear contour, and restrained color, the artist draws on the decorative clarity of early Renaissance painting while maintaining a contemporary painterly language. The series explores how a symbol remains alive — not through repetition, but through variation.
