Jon Rowland – The emotional response to the subject of the ‘Tree of Life’ was a focus was on paint and feeling. Strong colours and the free flow of form breaking out from what seems like constraining structures are the result. To categorise it as landscape or still life is not what this painting is about. It is what it is.

He was one of six contemporary artists who took part in an exhibition of views of Blenheim Palace, juxtaposing the original visions with today's, as part of the celebration of the 300th anniversary of Capability Brown's birth.
