Vintage landscape post impressionist framed oil painting on thick board, signed in the bottom left and dated 1960. This is a bright and cheerful oil painting in a gold coloured wood frame. Here, the artist has used lashings of thickened oils to give texture and animation to this countryside scene
with a myriad of natural green hues for the field, trees and hedges. The swirling cloudsin a blue and grey sky speak of weather uncertainty but may promise a brighter day beyond a blustery morning.

Condition: The painting is in good vintage condition, expect minor imperfections. The frame is also vintage and you should expect minor imperfections.
Signed: Omer Bouchery (1882-1962) was the son of Jules Bouchery, a tanner, and Élise Lefebvre, a milliner. In 1896, he enrolled at the École des Beaux-Arts in Lille, where he studied under Pharaon de Winter and Alphonse Leroy, who introduced him to engraving. In 1901, he continued his training at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris in Fernand Cormon's studio and took classes with engraver Jules Jacquet. He also frequented the studio of his uncle, sculptor Hippolyte Lefebvre. For the 1907-1908 school year, the city of Lille awarded him a grant.
He won second prize in the Prix de Rome in 1912, was awarded a gold medal at the Salon des Artistes Français in 1914, and received a travel grant from the Société Française de Gravure. However, his travel plans were put on hold when he was called up for military service during the First World War. He continued his career by focusing on creating original engravings and illustrations. He practiced the techniques of burin, intaglio, etching, and soft ground etching. He also produced woodcuts. An urban and rural landscape artist, he also vividly depicted scenes of life in Lille.
In 1925, the Lille Science Society distributed one of his engravings to its members, depicting a house on Rue de l'Hôpital-Militaire that was destroyed during the siege of Lille in 1914. Later, in 1930, he was named an honorary Rosati.
