About the Item
Otto Beyer: born 1874 in Ückendorf b. Gelsenkirchen (Germany), died 1912 in Jena.
He studied 1894 - 1902 at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf with H. Lauenstein and E. v. Gebhardt. The artist was active in both Düsseldorf and Weimar. The majority of his works are inspired by his travels abroad, which began in 1902 and took him to Capri, Dalmatia, Greece, the Middle East, and the Caucasus. These journeys impart a distinctive depth and expressiveness to his creations.
From 1898 to 1912, Boyer was a member of the artist association "Malkasten Düsseldorf" as well as the artist community "Laetitia." In 1912, he also worked as an interior decorator in Dortmund, highlighting his versatile talents and creative sensibility. In addition to his visual art, the artist also authored literary works, including travel reports and illustrated stories in the form of novels. This combination of visual art and literature makes him a fascinating and multifaceted creator.
