In this series, the artist takes Inspiration from ancient Italian frescos originally found at the Villa di Livia outside of Rome. The frescos are from the subterranean room used for dining. The lush gardens gave the dinner guests the illusion of dining alfresco. This exploration of the past and its connection to the present is a central theme running through Pylant's work. Here Pylant takes particular notice of the flora and fauna which was also present at her then North Carolina studio. This work is framed and measures 14.75h x 14w inches. Carol S. Using bold imagery and a bright color palette, Steve Banks takes pieces of popular culture to create this work entitled "Relative Location (Redux)". He creates a scene with animated comic book characters and imaginative uses of commercial products.
