Antique landcape oil painting on board of a woman walking near a church by French artist Paul Mallet (1845-1911) under the pseudonym Paul Jolly and signed and dated 1888 in the bottom right corner.
A woman walks in the spring sunshine covered from the sun by a red umbrella. She passes a church and graveyard, walking past trees in full spring blossom. The artist has used fine layers of slightly thickened paint to build this scene, giving a finely textured board which helps to animate this very charming painting.
