About the Item

Paul Renard French, 1941-1997 Winter in Paris Oil on canvas 18 by 24 in, w/ frame 25 ⅛ by 31 ¼ in Signed "P. Renard" lower right The art of Paul Renard, who was born in 1941, can best be described as a true love story. He remained faithful his entire life to painting the soft scenes that he saw around him as a boy on the bustling sidewalks of Paris. He applied his sensitive and consuming fascination, seeking to capture the beauty of French city life and country rivers on canvas as he saw them right up until his recent death. Renard wanted others to sense, see and feel what he spent his life adoring. Also, as in the greatest of love stories, Renard patiently studied and savored every nuance of his chosen affection. From the magnificence of lush river scenes of his birthplace in La Grenouillere, to the life swollen Parisian streets, his magic brush strokes entice the viewer to experience the evanescence of the life he knew.

Idyllic scene by a river under tree blossoms, this fine oil on canvas painting is very well presented in an original frame. Children play while mother peels apples in a pleasant afternoon setting. Bouter is known for his paintings of mother and children in interiors. This is one of one of his outdoor paintings in lighter color and lovely landscape.
