Paul Sébilleau was a French painter. He was born in Bordeaux on August 28, 1846 and died on January 30, 1907. He was a student at the Ecole des Beaux Arts and a pupil of Louis Auguste Auguin. Mainly a landscape painter, he was a member of the Société des Artistes Français, where he exhibited every year from 1879. He won numerous medals at exhibitions in France and abroad as well as at the Universal Exhibition of 1889. He won the gold medal at the Colonial Exhibition of 1889. In the wake of Auguin, Pradelles, Baudit, he painted the Bassin d'Arcachon. He likedto study the pattern in various seasons, to transpose the morning mists, the twilight effects. He was part of this Bordeaux School of Landscape, alongside : Léonce Chabry, Léon Bopp Dupont, Louis Cabié, Théodore Gardère, Julien Calvé, Emile Vallet. Paul Sébilleau is an important artist in Bordeaux landscaping, very close to the banks of the Garonne.
