About the Item
This superb British Post Impressionist landscape oil painting is by artist Peter Field. Painted circa 1955 on canvas, the composition is of daffodils in front of a lake with trees reflected in the water. The vivid yellow of the daffodils with great impasto is just beautiful and the reflections of the landscape beyond are lovely. It is a fantastic example of Field's Post Impressionist work from this period.

Provenance: Family collection.
Condition. Oil on canvas, 19.5 inches by 15.5 inches and in good condition.
Frame. Housed in a James Bourlet frame, 25.5 inches by 21.5 inches and in good condition.
Peter L Field (born 1920) - painter in oils, printmaker and teacher born in Winson in Gloucestershire. He studied at Cheltenham School of Art, 1937-9, with Seaton A White, then at Goldsmiths College London, 1946-49 under Clive Gardiner. After teaching in Paignton and Swindon he went to Birmingham, retiring in 1982 as head of the art and design faculty at City of Birmingham Polytechnic. He showed at The Royal Academy and in the provinces and Swindon Museum and Art gallery hold his works.
