A mid-century desert oil landscape of Western Nevada by Phoebe K. Higgins (American, 1895 - c 1960), circa 1950. The composition showcases a broad, arid vista with rolling hills and distant mountains under a soft, pastel sky — a classic representation of the Great Basin or Mojave Desert areas typical of western Nevada. Phoebe Higgins, a native of Montana has lived in Nevada since completing high school. She studied with J. Craig Sheppard of the University of Nevada, and Hans Meyer-Kassell. She exhibited at many regional Western Nevada showings. Higgins was a member of the Nevada Art Association.
