About the Item
"Wilshire and La Brea" is a dynamic oil that captures the energy and movement of a classic street scene in downtown Los Angeles, and is an excellent example of Pil Ho Lee's modern approach to Impressionism. Included is a custom black wood frame chosen by the artist for this painting (outside dimensions 22 x 26.")
Pil Ho Lee was was born in Seoul, South Korea. Having a father who was a gifted
artist, he naturally developed a love for art.
When he was nine years old, his family immigrated to the US, settling in Los Angeles. As an immigrant, he found drawing to be a language immediately accessible with my classmates.
He decided on a career in graphic design, earning his BFA in Visual Communications at Cal State Long Beach. Since 1995 he have worked as a graphic designer and art director for clients that include Canon, Sony, Disney, American Honda Motorcycles and Yamaha Motor Corp.
In 2010, an artist friend and mentor challenged him to devote time and energy to painting. This encouragement along with his thoughts on the artist’s role in the exaltation of transcendent truth and beauty has helped define him as an artist.
Lee was chosen to exhibit his work at the Laguna Beach Festival of Arts from 2017 to the present.
