He specialized in landscapes of Montseny, the Catalan coast, and Barcelona’s old quarter, developing a distinctive approach to color and light. His work was exhibited in major cities such as Paris, Munich, London, and New York, earning him several awards. His paintings are part of both public and private collections, including the Museum of Contemporary Art in Barcelona.
Art Movement: Catalan Post-Impressionism
Catalan Post-Impressionism evolved from Impressionism by incorporating stronger structure and a more subjective use of color. This movement focused on Mediterranean light, expressive chromaticism, and a more defined, impastoed brushstroke. Capmany, within this movement, followed the Luminist tradition of artists like Eliseu Meifrèn and Santiago Rusiñol but with a more dynamic brushstroke and a personal interpretation of nature.

Ramón de Capmany i de Montaner
Ramón de Capmany i de Montaner (1899-1992), painter, printmaker and bibliophile of the Llotia school, part of the group of evolutionists of the 1920s. Born in Canet de Mar in 1899, Capmany studied at the LlotJa with Francesc Labarta and exhibited regularly at the Parés hall, although he also achieved international notoriety for exhibitions such as the Traveling exhibition (New York, 1926). He especially cultivated the landscape (especially of old Barcelona and Montseny) in a style influenced by naturalism and characterized by his attention to detail and his fine lines, he also painted street scenes and portraits. His work as an engraver and illustrator of bibliophile editions was also highly appreciated. The Museum of Contemporary Art of Barcelona has his works in its collection. In 1964 he obtained by inheritance the title of Marquis del Valle e Canet, which he gave to his eldest son.
