Born in Barcelona in 1867, although he lived part of his life in Andalucia.
He studied at the school of fine arts in his hometown.
He traveled to Rome to complete his training studying the classics. He then went to Paris, encouraged by the artistic life that developed there.
Established for some years in the city of Seine, from there he attended several International Exhibitions; Munich (1895), Vienna and Batcelona (1894), Bordeaux (1895) and Salon de Paris (1896), being awarded in all of them.
Already in his maturity, in full control of his technical resources he moved to Seville and other cities of Andalucia, where he painted contemporary and oriental scenes, recognized as the most valuable of his work.
This tea time work belongs to this artistic period, where the painter gives free rein to his technical and artistic knowledge.
It is a canvas with a wonderful balance between lights and shadows, the bright and vaporous background light transports us to a world full of mystery, contrasting with the soft and faint shadows created under the vegetation, giving rise to a calm and calm atmosphere that invites to the tea ceremony, a key and important moment in oriental culture.
The figures are well resolved in foreshortening, with soft and subtle brushstrokes, as is the vegetation.
