About the Item

Fishing Village - Massachusetts Watercolor on Paper Cloudy day on the Massachusetts Coast by Richard Clark Hare (American, 1906-1959). Richard Clarke Hare was a painter best known for his watercolor scenes of the Massachusetts seashore. In the 1930s, he was part of the Provincetown, Massachusetts art scene. He was from a family of artists. His brother, John Hare, was a painter, as was his uncle Knowles Hare, a famous engraver. In a giltwood frame Image, 13"H x 19"W Sheet, 16"H x 22"W (Approx) Frame, 24.63"H x 30"W x 1"D" One of the locations that Richard Hare enjoyed painting was Lake Ozonia, a small lake in the Adirondacks, where he first visited in the 1920s. Essentially a part-time artist (as opposed to John Hare, who painted for a living), among other things, Richard was art director for Remington Rand in New York City in the '50s.
