Richard Weers began his professional career as an artist in 1974. His formal art education was extensive. Weers received his BA degree from Texas Lutheran College and completed two years of post-graduate study in Art Education at Southwest Texas State University. Weers furthered his artistic talents with studies at the Art Students League in New York City, Scottsdale Artists School, and the Fechin Institute in Taos, New Mexico.
The paintings of Richard Weers are a medley of textures. The primary focus of his paintings is the interplay of light and shadow in illuminating his subjects in a classical, realistic manner. Richards' subjects include still life, figures, and landscapes.
