About the Item

ROBERT DE CHATELENNE (American/Texas Artist, 20th century) Born in the United States as Phillip Fields, Robert De Chatelenne received his formal training at the Academie De La Grande Chaumiere in Paris. While attending the Academie he was also influenced towards his highly impressionist style by the world renowned artist, Edouard Cortes. His works have exhibited in Paris and London as well as the United States. His paintings are highly impressionist, in a loose style in combination of line drawing, transparent glazes, and heavy opaque subject matter. He spent much time in Paris but he is also a world traveler, and a Shakespearean actor. He has painted in Guadalajara, Mexico, Mexico City, and India. Oil on canvas, signed lower right 12’h x 17”w, overall size is 24” x 29”
