About the Item
This artwork titled "Winter Landscape" 2002 is an oil painting on hardboard by American artist Royce Thyberg Gordon, 1938-2021. It is signed and dated at the lower left corner by the artist. The artwork size is 18 x 24 inches, framed is 24.25 x 30.25 inches. Framed in a wooden gold frame. It is in excellent condition, the frame has a few minor scratches.
About the artist:
A 1956 graduate of Pocatello High School, Royce excelled in the arts throughout her schooling, eventually attending the prestigious Sergei Bongart School of Arts in Santa Monica California and Rexburg, Idaho. She continued her studies with other nationally known artists, most notably Milford Zornes, Ovanes Berberian, and Don Ricks.
She met Russian Impressionist, Nikolai who had studied at the Russian Royal Academy Of Art. He was the last of the great masters of impressionism to paint The Imperial Romanov Family. He was the teacher who taught her Impressionism and told her she would be a world famous artist like him if she did not give up and keep going (and a few more things).
The beauty of life and all its wondrous manifestations inspired her work. Her impressionist style combined vibrant colors and the effects of light, transforming her subjects into lively and imaginative interpretations. Along with an active national exhibition record, she received numerous awards throughout her career. Her work has been featured in the Salt Lake City Art Center, various collections including the Smithsonian, museums, books, and landmark buildings such as the Federal Courthouse and the Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello.

This artwork titled "Wild Winter" is an oil painting on canvas by Swedish/American artist Carlo Wahlbeck, b.1933. It is signed at the lower left corner by the artist, also signed and titled on the back. The canvas size is 9 x 12 inches, framed size is 13.75 x 16.75 inches. Framed in an antique style gold frame, with fabric liner and gold bevel. It is in excellent condition.
About the artist:
Carlo Wahlbeck was born in Stockholm, Sweden in 1933. His studies from early youth included travel and visits to major museums in Europe. During a visit to the United States, Carlo was introduced to the Native American Indian and the rich history of the American West. He moved to Southern California in 1960 and still calls it home today.
Between 1960 and today, Carlo has traveled throughout the Southwestern United States and Mexico. For many years, he lived among the Navajo and Zunis, painting a great many surreal works that embodied their legends and outlook. He also spent 2 years in Mexico living among the Huichol people in the inaccessible mountains north of Tepic, painting the Indian religion and the white man's religion as seen through Huichol eyes.
Between 1979 and today, he mastered the technique and came to control it, producing a fabulous new medium base for his expressions. The evolvement of his art has show much diversification and his works can be found in prominent private and corporate collections, as well as museums both here in the United States and abroad.

About the artist:
A native of Syracuse, John E. De Tore was born in 1902.
DeTore enjoyed painting continuously since the age of 8. Although he became an engineer with the Niagara Mohawk Power corporation he carried on elective training in the required branches of art.
He took seriously to the watercolor medium from 1940 and by 1955 he was well known for his decisively composed watercolor landscapes and their rich, deep chromatics - earning him acknowledgment in the American Artist Magazine November 1961 issue.
