About the Item

A beautiful oil on canvas painting by the French artist, Salvadore Demone. Deomne was a Parisian painter known for his colorful cityscapes depicting the times of his generation. This painting is a wonderful example of his work from the prime of his career. Here you see Cafes with the bustling street view with horse and carriages and figures going about their day. People are depicted throughout the streets and the lights from the cafes and stores flicker and reflect on the wet ground, illuminating the scene in a magical way. The details are magnificent as Demone captures the architecture of Paris so beautifully; you can feel the energy of the day and the excitement. This painting is signed lower right and it comes housed in a decorated gold tone wood frame with linen liner and hanging wire on verso ready to be displayed. Art measures 24 x 36 inches Frame measures 31.25 x 43.25 inches Salvadore Demone was born in San Remo, Italy in 1928. He was the son of an artist. It was determined in his early youth that he would take up the profession of his father. He was sent to Rome and later on to Paris where he finished his studies. He is famous for his predominantly Parisian Street Scenes. Post-impressionistic in style he is regarded as one of the foremost painters of Paris Scenes from the mid to late 20th century. PROVENANCE: Estate of a Private collection Dania Beach, FL; Private Collection Manhattan, New York; Lilac Gallery Collection. The piece will be stamped from Lilac Gallery on its verso.
