Sandra Pratt (b. 1978) Self-taught American artist Sandra Pratt creates evocative landscape paintings that capture the essence of place through bold, expressive palette knife work. Her distinctive approach transforms humble subjects, weathered barns, mountain vistas, village alleyways, into compositions of remarkable emotional resonance. Working exclusively wet-into-wet in a single session, Pratt's paintings possess an immediacy and authenticity that collectors prize. "I like to see how simple I can make painting in one sitting," says Pratt. "Sometimes I will make five paintings in a day... once you get on a good roll, that sixth painting is going to be the best one." Pratt's refined color palette emphasizes fundamental hues, red, yellow, and blue, occasionally anchored by earth tones or grays. This deliberate limitation creates natural harmony while allowing her to focus on the relationships between shapes, spaces, and edges. Pratt is represented by several prestigious galleries throughout the United States, including Abend Gallery in Denver, CO. She currently lives and works in Boulder, drawing inspiration from the dramatic landscapes of the Rocky Mountains.
