This painting captures the warmth and timeless charm of a serene moment bathed in sunlight. The Catholic Church of Carmel, located in Corfu, Greece, is a Latin church built in honor of the Virgin Mary of Tenedos in the late 15th century. Its name comes from an icon that refugee Catholic priests brought to the church of Tenedos when the Turks conquered the island after the fall of the Byzantine Empire. It once housed the Public Library, the first Public School, and the Ionian Academy. It is notable for its salmon-colored interior, unusual for churches in Greece.
I painted a small sketch from plain-air in Kerkyra not far from the old fortress on a crowded street; I was remembered by hospitable people, people came up to me, took photos and treated me with a banana.

Committed to the Russian realistic school, graduate of the Russian Academy of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture, he aspires for absolute fidelity in reproducing the reality. 1988/90 A student of the art school in Krasnaya Presnya district of Moscow.1990/97 A student of Moscow Academic Art Lyceum attached to the Russian Academy of Arts, Moscow. His graduation drawings were illustrations for Academician Platonov's The Course of Russian History rated as “excellent". As a result, Kozhin was attested as having finished a full course of general and professional education.1997/03 A student of Ilya Glazunov's Academy of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture, Moscow. Dick Beer (1893-1938)
Dick Beer was born in London in 1893. His father, John Beer (1853-1906), was a Swedish painter from Stockholm who had a career mainly as a watercolour painter with motifs of horses from racetracks and fox hunts from the countryside.
Barely fifteen years old, Dick Beer became an orphan and came to Sweden in 1907. Already in 1908-1909, he started at Althin's painting school in Stockholm. And later, at the Royal Academy of Arts from 1910-1912. His teachers were, among others, Gustaf Cederström, Oscar Björk and Alfred Bergström...

This artwork tiled "Church of Mandraikina, Corfu" 1928 is an original color linocut on Laid fibrous paper by noted British artist Isabel De Bohun Lockyer, 1895-1980. It is hand signed, titled, dated and numbered 7/50 in pencil by the artist. The image (linocut mark) size is 7.15 x 9.85 inches, framed size is 18.75 x 21,5 inches. It is in excellent condition, especially considering the age.
About the artist:
Isabel de Bohun Lockyer (1895–1980) was a British painter known for her linocut color prints. She worked as an independent artist and mostly depicted landscapes. Lockyer was one of the few linocut artists at the time who was not associated with the Grosvenor School, a collection of artists and students who were primarily responsible for a resurgence of interest in printmaking and particularly linocut after World War I. Her earlier work followed closely in the tradition of woodcut due to her use of water-based inks, but later her technique showed influence from the work of Claude Flight, one of the heads of the Grosvenor School, who invited her to exhibit her prints at some of his annual British linocut...
