The Trees at the George Ranch is a contemporary oil landscape painting on canvas 18" x 24" painted in 2024 by Texan artist Steve Parker conveying his understanding of Texas landscapes and the use of native Texan trees. George Ranch Trees is a painting from a recent road trip to the ranch in Fort Bend County, Texas. The landscapes of artist Steve Parker depict Brenham, Chapel Hill, Washington County, Ft. Bend County and Lake Livingston. There is a feeling of recognition, of the familiar and yet of the elusive Texas landscape. By looking inward, Parker has created a view which Texas nature is constantly changing. Steve Parker's paintings have enough definition to become recognizable while retaining a loose painterly quality. Steve Parker always brings the viewer back to Texas. Steve Parker has been an Instructor at the Art League of Houston for over 30 years . The Historic George Ranch Association was created in 2024 to manage The George Ranch, a 475 acre tract dedicated to education. Known originally as the George Ranch Historical Park, the education facility was established in 1990 and managed by Fort Bend History Association for 33 years. Governance The HGRA is a 501c3 non-profit entity. Staff report to one of three Directors who report to the Executive Director. The Executive Director reports to a Board of Directors comprised of up to eight members, three of whom are representatives of The George Foundation. The George Ranch The George Ranch is a 22,000-acre working ranch located in Fort Bend County, Texas. Founded in 1824, the ranch’s legacy is woven throughout the fabric of our Fort Bend community. School groups and the general public experience the Ranch and explore 100 years of Texas history in an interactive and authentic environment through tours and educational experiences. The ranch’s history began in 1824 when Henry and Nancy Jones received a league of land along the Brazos River in the Mexican territory known as Tejas as members of Stephen F. Austin’s “Old 300.” Today, the ranch’s fertile soil and natural resources enable the HGRA to continue its educational mission.
