Antique American rare woman artist Hudson River School waterfall landscape by Susan E. W. Fuller (1831 - 1907). Oil on canvas. Signed. Large and impressive painting. Handsomely framed in a period gold cove molding. Excellent condition, ready to hang and enjoy.
Artist Bio:
Birth place: NYC
Death place: Washington, DC
Profession: Engraver, lithographer, designer, teacher
Studied: New York School of Art (later became Cooper Union).
Comments: Fuller studied engraving before the Civil War. After the war, she opened the Washington School of Art--thought to have been the first art school in Washington. Position: supervisor/director, Washington, DC Schools (for 35 years).
