About the Item
"Jardim Bischainhos," Acrylic on Paper over Wood Panel, Tom Fawkes (1941- present), painted in 2007. This painting is so wonderfully detailed that is almost has a photograpic quality!
An MFA graduate of Cranbrook Academy of Art, Tom Fawkes taught at the University of Oregon and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in the 1960s. From 1972 – 2004, Fawkes taught drawing and painting at the Pacific Northwest College of Art. He has been the recipient of several awards including an OAC fellowship, an NEA fellowship, and a Rockefeller Foundation grant. His works are in numerous collections including Safeco, Microsoft, the Seattle Art Museum, and the Portland Art Museum. Recently his work was included in In Passionate Pursuit: The Arlene and Harold Schnitzer Collection and Legacy at the Portland Art Museum. This painting was sold through the Laura Russo Gallery in 2008.
