About the Item
A nice American modernist landscape painting, dating from the 1940s.
This work is on the manner of E. Oscar Thalinger, but does not appear to be signed.
The work is unframed, as it was when purchased at the Alameda Antique Fair, in the San Francisco Bay Area, in 2019.
There are no marking to indicated authorship, but the painting is well done, and clearly created by a well-trained artist.
A great example of an artist implementing modern ideas, like cubism, to a traditional genre, landscape painting. Using a semi abstracted approach, the artist has created a dramatic, and moody painting of a road winding through a rural landscape of the period.
