Original oil on board seascape painting by listed artist Alfred DuPont, circa 1970s. This beautiful painting is in very good condition and measures 37.5"x 29.5" overall; the painting itself is 26.5" x 18". It is presented in a wood frame with a cream colored linen mat and signed by the artist in the lower left. Gorgeous realistic piece! #4221 Alfred Dupont was a muralist, illustrator and painter who made his home in southern California. Dupont was born in East Orange, New Jersey. While still a teenager he ran away from home ending up in San Francisco, California. He studied art at the California School of Fine Arts, the University of California and the California College of Arts and Crafts. Alfred Dupont painted murals on the ceiling of Hearst Castle (active at Hearst Castle in 1933 where he designed the story of the Old Testament on the ceiling of the celestial suite and made the drawings for ornamental ironwork and the blue and gold mosaic tiles around the swimming pool) and for the Golden Gate Exposition of 1939 he painted murals in the mining building. While in the Navy during World War II he worked as an illustrator and painted portraits of Admirals Nimitz...
