Very decorative and well painted British or Scottish landscape with horse, Haycart, figures and a cottage.
Dating from circa 1900 this is a very pretty example of late Victorian British landscape painting.
The style of the painting is very similar to the late 19th-century Scottish landscape painters and Ferguson may well have been Scottish. The piece is a late Summer harvest scene and the painter has achieved a very desirable composition. His skill in the painting of the trees and the overall balance of the piece shows his skill.
The piece is an oil on canvas and is in excellent condition, having been lightly cleaned and re-varnished.
This piece is perfect for almost any room in a home, such as a study, den, family room, hallway, bedroom entranceway, or even a kitchen.

John Mundell was a British painter of landscapes as well as river scenes and coastal views. It is suggested that Mundell was a pseudonym of John James Wilson. Mundell’s work was vigorous, bright, and attractive and compares favorably with the work of many of the better artists of his time.
This is a very fine example of the artist's work. It is a rare composition for the artist as he mostly painted marines.
