An exceptional luminous marine painting with a schooner on the ocean by American artist William R. Davis (b. 1952). Davis was born in Somerville, Massachusetts, grew up in Hyannis Port, MA and became well-known in New England and across the country as a self-taught artist of luminist marine and landscape paintings. Oil on panel, signed lower left, as well as signed and inscribed on verso “Drifting in Light Wind 2016”, and housed in a beautiful molded giltwood frame. Dimensions: 24 in H x 36 in W, actual; 31.75 in H x 43.75 in W, framed.
