A quintessential American Scene landscape painted by the Chicago Modernist, William Schwartz. Workers in tilled fields surrounding a farmstead under dramatic skies. Painted in 1935.
Presented in a beautiful gilt frame. The painting is signed on the lower right front. The signature and title also appear on the verso.
Image size is 20 x 30.35
William Schwartz (1896-1977) studied at the Art Institute of Chicago shortly after emigrating to the United States from Russia. His work has been collected and exhibited by important institutions such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Whitney Museum, and the Detroit Institute of Arts. His paintings have been influenced by the writings and philosophies of Wassily Kandinsky and his interest in music, spirituality, color and abstract form.
