About the Item
Léon Giran-Max (1867-1923) was a French Impressionist painter and student of Claude Pissaro famous for his vibrant landscapes. He exhibited at the Salon des Indépendents and became a founding member of the Salon d'Automne.
"Baigneuse" is one of the Giran-Max's most famous paintings, depicting a young boy bathing in the river among the reeds and looking out onto a provincial French beach scene of boats and shoreline walkers. This painting is noted for the delicate ripples of the water around the boy's body.
