Marcia Wise’s portrait, “Leonie,” is a 24 x 24 x 2 inch contemporary oil painting on panel. This palette knife painting with a soft blue background highlights the multiple colors used to represent white, while shadows of lavender compliment the yellow and picks of the skin tone. The technique reveals the multiple layering of texture via color, with each color showing in the finished piece. This and others from the artists’ portrait series are created using palette knives. The painting is framed in a 25 x 25 x 2.4 inch maple frame and is signed on the front by the artist.
