Seated Female Nude, by Paul Wingo, Charcoal/Conte Drawing
Located in Oklahoma City, OK
This beautiful framed black and white large scale study of a young female model seated looking away from the viewer, 'Seated Female Nude' captures and embraces the human form. Wingo approaches the nude figure with energetic line and play of light and shadow in a monochromatic palette. " I have been an Artist for many years. I received my Masters in Fine Art from Wichita State University, in Wichita, Kansas. I have taught art for many years. My work is intentionally loose in rendering, the purpose is to engage the memory of the viewer. I believe that the Artist should lead the viewer to make conclusions of their own. At a distance I have been told that my work appears photographic, yet, upon closer examination the viewer is often surprised to find how much detail their minds-eye has added to the image. I currently reside in Norwalk, Connecticut." -- Paul Wingo

David Goliath - Caravaggio Inspired Monumental Double Self-Portrait, Charcoal
Located in Chicago, IL
-ARTIST STATEMENT- I depict my person in multiplicity with different selves representing dramatis personae. My likeness is both implicit and symbolic in the portrayal of my narrative; the drama involved in creating art and the artist’s role in society. I use realism to invite the viewer into mysterious inner worlds that are layered reflections of the outer. Dehumanizing environments are imbued with art historical references as a critique of power structures. The artist is an Everyman who is at odds with society and his self. Visually my work is a celebration of society’s dark undercurrents and its overlooked absurdities. I use charcoal and printmaking media as their tenebrous values add a fitting metaphor. The nuances of light and shadow seduce viewers into a world their better judgment would have them avoid. This provokes a sense of disquietude that causes viewers to assess our world through the austerity of a colorless, yet not humorless, light. -BIO- Christopher Ganz grew up in Northeast Ohio and from early on had a fertile imagination and an interest in art. Christopher's artistic education truly began at the University of Missouri, where his love of the human form led to many figure drawing classes and his exposure to the wonders of printmaking. Christopher's then went onto graduate school at Indiana University and a summer abroad program in Italy was a dream realized. Christopher then grasped charcoal with a renewed vigor and large, sfumato-laden drawings ensued. Christopher's artistic influences are many; from a seminal exposure to Dore's engravings of the Divine Comedy, to Rembrandt, Caravaggio, Goya, and up to Lucian Freud, Mark Tansey...

The Object of My Affection (Large Contemporary Painting, Framed)
Located in New Orleans, LA
Artist's Statement: "I typically paint abstractly, but this is part of a recent series of paintings that is figurative and symbolic. They harken back to 80s neo-Expressionism - my favorite contemporary art movement. I tend not to beat collectors over the head with fatuous "meanings" of my work, but this one does have a subtext, a rather personal one. But you are welcome to read whatever you want into it." Comes framed in a professional high-profile float frame. “Lyman’s work evolves restlessly, with the common elements generally being deft and unusual color choices that balance assonance and dissonance, and vestiges of the hand and facture purposely left in the paintings. The negative space is often so meticulously worked that it’s almost as if the objects – usually simple shapes – are there as much to complement the background as vice versa. Despite the often bold colors there is an elegance about his paintings that prevents them from being either loud or decorative. " Artbeit Zeitschrift “His paintings are a refreshing departure from the current abstract art world’s seemingly endless parade of fields of color with scribbles providing form, a style that is easily mimicked and has become a sort of “safe,” accessible go-to. There are confident decisions in these paintings appearing as commitments of strongly delineated forms and unexpected collisions of color that give the work a visceral, confident and playful soul, increasingly missing from contemporary expressionist abstraction. They are the paintings of a real painter rather than a decorative artist.” ArtSeen, 2018 (from a collector): "Love your work. We collect colorists like Wolf Kahn and Jennifer Bartlett, whom I commissioned a piece from that is in the entrance of Mayo Clinic. We are old fans...

Christ, Charcoal Pastel on Canvas, Black by Contemporary Artist "In Stock"
Located in Kolkata, West Bengal
Bratin Khan - Christ Charcoal & Pastel on Canvas, 30 x 24 inches, 2009 The anecdotes and narratives of Krishna's life are generally titled as Krishna Leela. He is a central character in the Mahabharata, the Bhagavata Purana and the Bhagavad Gita, and is mentioned in many Hindu philosophical, theological, and mythological texts. They portray him in various perspectives: a god-child, a prankster, a model lover, a divine hero, and as the universal supreme being. His iconography reflects these legends, and shows him in different stages of his life, such as an infant eating butter, a young boy playing a flute, a young man with Radha or surrounded by women devotees, or a friendly charioteer giving counsel to Arjuna. He is sometimes accompanied by cows or a calf, which symbolise the divine herdsman Govinda. Alternatively, he is shown as a romantic and seductive man with the gopis (milkmaids), often making music or playing pranks. Style : Marked for the refined handling of line work and palette, his painterly compositions, reflect influences of folk art and Bengal School. The renderings are poetic and the narratives mythical, folklore-inspired or religious. His curvaceous and languid figures, often accompanied by a surrounding halo, are set amidst a natural habitat. The imagery features Buddha, Krishna, other legendry icons as well as pretty damsels and lotus flowers. Figures dominate the whole thinking process of his paintings with different subjects such as mermaids, musicians (Classical Musicians , Rajasthani Folk Singers and Baul Singers) and mythological figures appearing in his works. He was deeply influenced by the life Sri Aurobindo and thus enlightened beings. Such as Buddha, Jesus and Krishna are also a recurring theme in his Golden Man series. His focus on detail and remarkable skill over the line make his style unique. He uses a traditional method of tempera painting which goes back to the Indian miniature though the material he uses is totally contemporary. Knowledge of the wash technique further enables him to create a soft, twilight effect in his paintings. About the Artist and his work : Born : 1969, West Bengal. Education : 1993 Bachelor of Fine Arts (Painting), Visva Bharati University, Santiniketan. Selected Solo Exhibitions : 2000 - Classic Source, Mumbai. 1999 - Rightlines Art Gallery, Bangalore. 1993 - Grindlays Bank Gallery, Kolkata. The foundation for my portraits comes from the African Mask. As a child, I remember the visual impact it had on me and remains strong in my retained memory to this day.
