Titled “Beloved Nude,” this work captures Anna, a model with whom I shared a passionate and tumultuous relationship. Many of my paintings of her were lost or destroyed, but this piece survived, preserved in a roll. It depicts her nude in a way that emphasizes the natural curves of her body and the interplay of light across her form. Beyond the physical, the painting conveys her unique character and presence, immortalizing a fleeting intimacy and the intensity of our connection. The work is executed with careful attention to light, shadow, and subtle expression, reflecting both the vulnerability and the strength of the subject.
