ASTRID KJELLBERG-JUEL (1877 - 1965)
Kjellberg-Juel studied art for Julius Kronberg, Oscar Björck and Georg von Rosen at the Art Academy in Stockholm, as well as etching for Axel Tallberg. She then undertook study trips to Germany, Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands and France (Paris). After her marriage to the writer Erik Juel, she lived for a few years in Copenhagen where she participated in the exhibitions of the Danish Academy of Fine Arts. The move subsequently went to Germany in 1915, where she opened a painting school in Berlin while also supervising a painting school in Stockholm 1917—1920.
A. K-J was later hired as a teacher of drawing and art history at the French School in Stockholm in 1920 where she remained until her retirement.
She was also one of the initiators of the association Swedish Art for Goods, which during the war years gained a great practical importance for many Swedish artists. In Sweden, she exhibited separately at, among others, Blanch's Art Salon in Stockholm and Norrköping Art Museum.
