This portraut is a fierce, hypnotic portrait that crackles with emotional voltage and chromatic daring. Intimate yet defiant, the figure emerges from a turbulently saturated red background, silvery eyes and cyan-streaked hair igniting the canvas with a kind of mythic exigency.
This work is part of Pachamama series, a continuing tribute to the Earth Mother archetype, recontextualized within the paradigm of contemporary femininity, psychological nuance, and aesthetic disjunction.
⭐Visual Impact and Composition⭐
The painting is constructed around a commanding diagonal gaze an off-center stare that bores into the viewer with shocking directness. The head of the subject dips slightly down, but her eyes dart sharply up, summoning a combination of suspicion, scrutiny, and mute resistance.
First to strike is the incendiary contrast:
Background: a deep, saturated crimson red, reminiscent of raw emotion, anger, passion, power, or danger.
Hair: undulating rivers of electric blue and obsidian black, brushed in expressive, almost flame-like strokes.
Skin: a marbled landscape of ochre, coral, mint, and turquoise never flat, never still alive with nuance and expressive gesture.
The thick accumulation of paint, the spontaneous splatters and drips, are indicative of a process as much physical as emotional. The use of bold, high-contrast color places this work in a dialogue with both Neo-Expressionism and Urban Art, without, however, sacrificing its distinctive signature.
⭐Facial Expression
Psychological Depth⭐
The subject's face is combative and enigmatic. The pursed lips and raised eyebrows imply unresolved tension. The eyes, with their crystalline clarity and ringed detail, are emotional anchors. They convey intelligence, trauma, and a steely determination not to look away.
Here, the portrait is more than a likeness it's a psychological battleground, a conflict between silence and speech, between outer calm and inner turmoil. The woman is not performing for the viewer; she's daring the viewer to look at her in full, on her own terms.
⭐Symbolism and Interpretation⭐
The title Pachamama taken from the Andean Earth and fertility goddess—invests the figure with archetypal gravity. But my vision is not warm or nurturing in any classical sense. This is no maternal Madonna; this is a modern myth reborn, uncompromising, elemental, possibly scarred, but entirely self-contained.
The chromatic choices reinforce this reading:
Red: fire, blood, life force.
Cyan and turquoise: transformation, spirit, resilience.
Black: mystery, shadow, grounding.
Together, they create a vision of women's power that isn't idealized but explosive and uncontrollable something primal, sacred, and contemporary.
⭐Artistic Influences and Technique⭐
Bazévian unites the emotional intensity of Expressionism with street art's graphic forthrightness. There are echoes of Jenny Saville in the assertive deployment of the face as landscape, and references to artists like David Walker or Francoise Nielly in the chromatic layering. But my work departs through its lyrical symbolism and narrative force, especially in the recurrent figure of Pachamama, which functions both personally and mythically.

Bazévian Delacapucinière is an artist, now based in France who painted vibrant figurative painting with vivid colors. Norwegian, Brasilian, Korean, Bazévian spent 10 years on the road, meeting a lot of artists and people. Bazévian focuses mostly on portraits, because the face is a vital part of how we express ourselves. «Face is language and meaning. It is obviously the location for the expressions and emotions which gives information about the character. However, the face is also the only part of the body that is normally exposed and naked. We can't hide it in our society. Finally, it belongs to social issue". Bazévian unpacks the consumerist imagery that saturates society— namely impossibly perfect magazine pictures— by composing figures whose bodies disappear and faces form in an explosion of vivid colour. For Delacapucinière, these faces are vessels of social standards, and their interpretation therefore becomes an invitation to challenge such norms. Bazévian used several techniques with oil, oil pastel and acrylic to create small, medium and large painting, developing new technique of expression by dilatation and extracting the painting. Bazévian has held solo exhibitions in France, Norway, Brazil and South Korea. Emerging artist, Bazévian’s painting can be found in all collection from US to Europe and now Asia.
