About the Item

Bertha Olga Vilhelmine Herlich Dorph, 1875-1960. Was a Danish painter who exhibited a number of pictures of children and family, in her later career she painted landscapes and still life subjects with portraits especially of children. She was a designer of furniture and silverware, ran an art school and was a co-founder of the Female Artists Society. Clearly an accomplished artist who displays a sensitivity of touch with this portrait of a young girl. This is a large picture in a very good quality heavy frame and was certainly painted for a wealthy client, the sitter is unknown at this stage but research may provide us with a name. This picture will be transported in a wooden crate.
