About the Item
This 11.125" x 9.25" oil on linen painting is by contemporary artist, Chris Brizzard. This portrait painting features a lone figure dressed in a blue shirt, set against a richly variegated backdrop of deep green, golden yellow, and shadowy tones. The brushstrokes are visibly expressive, suggesting a gestural approach that emphasizes texture and movement. The figure's form is loosely defined, with contours softened by the painterly technique, lending an atmospheric and introspective quality to the scene. The painting is framed.
Chris Brizzard started his formal training in drawing and design with Michael Mentler at The Society of Figurative Arts in 2013. From 2014 to 2017, he studied at Studio Incamminati in Philadelphia, under instructors trained by Nelson Shanks. He now teaches at The Oklahoma Academy of Classical Art and The Fine Arts Institute in Edmond, Oklahoma, and at Oklahoma Contemporary in Oklahoma City. He is currently represented by 1515 Lincoln Gallery in Oklahoma City, Terra Rosa Art Gallery in Guthrie, Oklahoma, and Folly Cove Fine Art Gallery in Rockport, Massachusetts.
Chris is an associate member of the American Impressionist Society.

Chris Brizzard started his formal training in Texas in 2013 with Michael Mentler at the Society of Figurative Arts.
