About the Artist
Elisha Nyong’s surreal body of work is a terrestrial representation of his personal “Surrealist’s manifesto,” which he developed as a budding artist. It encapsulates the surreal practice of André Breton and the allusions of Salvador Dalí and is fueled by the psychoanalytic theories of Freud. His style is born of studies and research to better understand creativity by exploring abstract themes of an abstract world with physical consequences.
ARTIST STATEMENT
Demystifying the mysteries of existentialism is the core of my art praxis; my technique rides stately on the back of free-spiritedness and countermanding the superstitions and taboos of the society in which I was raised. The unique themes of my visual allegories are a clarion call to seek out and assimilate dimensions beyond the three-dimensional world... it is a letter, so long I’ve barely begun.
