In a meadow of white roses, a figure lies in surrender—
eyes closed, body adrift,
as though the earth itself has lulled them into rapture.
The roses are not still.
they breathe, they whisper,
they fold into the spiral that rises unseen,
a current of emotions without form.
Here, the lover is everywhere yet nowhere—
a tremor in the petals,
a warmth in the air,
a pulse threading through the dreamer’s veins.
The trance is euphoric, endless,
a descent into a spiral where boundaries dissolve—
where love is not a presence to behold,
but a tide to be carried by,
without ever touching the shore.

About the Artist
Elisha Nyong’s surreal body of work is a terrestrial representation of his personal “Surrealist’s manifesto,” which he developed as a budding artist. It encapsulates the surreal practice of André Breton, and the allusions of Salvador Dalí, and is fueled by the psychoanalytic theories of Freud. His style is born of studies and research to better understand creativity by exploring abstract themes of an abstract world with physical consequences.
ARTIST STATEMENT
Demystifying the mysteries of existentialism is the core of my art praxis; my technique rides stately on the back of free-spiritedness and countermanding the superstitions and taboos of the society in which I was raised. The unique themes of my visual allegories are a clarion call to seek out and assimilate dimensions beyond the three-dimensional world... it is a letter, so long I’ve barely begun.
