About the Item
"I Love You" is painted with oil on canvas by contemporary Lithuanian painter Gabija Pritkovaite (b. 1998) who lives and works in Vilnius. From 2018 to 2024, she earned both her BA and MA in Painting from the Vilnius Academy of Arts. She is part of the new generation of Lithuanian painters, actively exhibiting in group shows and competitions. In 2023, she received first place in the Zabolis Art Prize and was awarded the Justinas Vienožinskis Scholarship in 2020.
The artwork captures screen light and its artificial relation to skin, posture, and the moment. This light does not merely reveal the grand scene or a kiss, for example; rather, it illustrates how our consciousness focuses on a still image, capturing it entirely, primarily by staging itself on the painting's surface.
The title is ironic; the "I love you" is not for a significant other, but for oneself—our recognition of ourselves in this staged life event.
The painting is in excellent condition. Exhibited at Verona Art Fair in October 2025. Artist name and work details written on the back side of the work. A Certificate of Origin issued by the gallery, signed by both the artist and the gallery, is included with the work.

Pritkovaitė treats the painted surface as both a visual and conceptual space, where memory and presence continuously shift and overlap. Through this approach, she reflects on the instability of images and the role of painting in negotiating contemporary states of being.
