Portrait of a Woman in Front of the Sea - Original Romantic Oil Painting
Beautifully rendered and realistic portrait by Gianni (Giovanni) Strino (Italian b. 1953.) A woman stands in the center of the composition, wearing a loose off white shirt and deep burgundy pants. She has her head tilted to the side and is looking down and away from the viewer. Behind her is a simple landscape composed of the sea and a simple horizon line behind her head. The woman's face is rendered precisely with great attention to realism, whereas her body and clothing have loser brushstrokes, adding a more open and painterly flair to the piece. The light source is coming from behind the woman, outlining the edges of her shoulders in white light and leaving her face partly in shadow.

Gianni (Giovanni) Strino was born in Naples, Italy in 1953. Strino began showing a talent in art from a young age, ultimately enrolling in the Neapolitan Artistic Lyceum and graduating with honors in 1971. Following graduation, he enrolled in the Faculty of Architecture in Naples, although he ultimately left to pursue painting full-time. His first solo exhibition was held at Circolo della Stampa in Avellino, where he sold every piece in the show during opening night. Following this, he continued to exhibit in cities such as Milan, New York, London, Madrid, and Tokyo. Strino is now recognized for his expert handling of light and shadow, particularly in his still lives and figures.
