About the Item
The painting titled “Attitude” captures the very ‘essence’ of his subjects who they are and what they represent outside of their roles experiences obligations and accomplishments. Many of his sitters are wives, mothers, and sisters, with various occupations and varying degrees of success and achievement, but beyond the tangible and readily accessible characteristics. The Floral motifs are weaved together with the entirety of his oeuvre, often manifested in his honorific, striking portrait of independent black women, crowned with halo-esque Afro hairstyles indigenous to, and ubiquitous amongst her fellow compatriots and dating millennia. Musings and reflections on what it is to be a woman of note, self-respect and integrity, through the lens of a black woman.

About Artist
Gobe Joseph, an indigene of Delta State, was born in the early 90's, Southwest, in the city of Ibadan Oyo state. He had his secondary and tertiary education in Ibadan. His interaction with different people and materials in the ancient city of Ibadan propelled him towards his artistic career.
He had participated in some exhibitions and competitions in Nigeria. These include life in my city art festival (LIMCAF). Galaxy television exhibition, (INSTINCT) a group exhibition in Ibadan, (Arnheim Collection) a group of art exhibition, (EMERGENCE) a group of art exhibition at Alexis gallery.
Being a self-thought artist with a strong interest in the relationship with nature and the immediate environment. His work is expressed in diverse media, like acrylic and oil paint.
Joseph's work portrays figures that result from meditation and artistic interpretation. His painting is expressed with vibrant images which are all delivered with a strong artistic flavor.
