About the Item
An exquisite early 20th Century French School portrait of an elegant woman in late Victorian finery. She holds herself with poise with a delicate smile at her lips and a gentle flush in her cheeks. She is wearing a luxurious pink lace dress with a grey blue taffeta cloak with impressive volume. The portrait has an air of Singer Sargent about it, with muted tones bringing outer the light features of the sitter who has an elongated elegance in her face and posture. The artist has signed and dated to the lower left corner and the painting has been handsomely presented in a wonderful early 20th Century gilt gessoed wood frame with pierced, scrolling acanthus border. The frame has wonderful high relief, finished with a silver gilt inner window. On canvas.
