About the Artist
Born in Parrott, Georgia, Lewis Lee Tilley was a multidisciplinary artist, educator, and writer. He studied at the University of Georgia and the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center School, where he later taught under Boardman Robinson. Tilley earned his MFA from the Universidad de Guanajuato and Instituto Allende in Mexico. His diverse career included work as an art editor, radio director, illustrator, and filmmaker. Known for his colorful, abstract modernist style, Tilley’s work remains an important contribution to American art history.
